This interview names the danger I have been struggling to articulate. The United States has leaned hard toward oligarchy. The old practice of wealth buying influence is now integrated with surveillance, algorithms, private platforms, and state technology that can disenfranchise targeted groups with terrifying efficiency. Immigrants and Latinos may be the testing ground, as you and Gil argue, but systems this effective rarely remain confined to their original targets. The list grows. So does the machinery.
